Writing a Software RFP and Choosing the Right Vendor

A request for proposal is only as good as the questions in it. Vague RFPs get vague answers, and every vendor ends up looking the same.

When I evaluate vendors, I want the RFP to force specific answers about data, integrations, and total cost, not just features.

What to include

  • A clear problem statement and scope
  • Your real data and integration needs
  • Required security and compliance controls
  • Pricing over five years
  • A scoring model agreed on before responses arrive
